Guaritas (sentry boxes) Project - Guaritas is the series of urban space photographic projections that Elaine Tedesco is performing this year. The work which was started in Porto Alegre will be presented in São Paulo in August, in Belém (Cidades Ilustradas) and in September.

The sentry boxes photographed by Elaine Tedesco are minimal and precarious constructions, impregnated by the signs of use and time. The sentry boxes series, as well as the recent proposals presented in the artist's book are titled Sobreposições Imprecisas (São Paulo escrituras, 2003) and in the interventions project Sobreposições Urbanas, Porto Alegre, 2004, they extends the photographic process to other levels, namely projection and documentation.

The sentry boxes are constantly displaced, they migrate from one city to another, with no specific destination. Through slide projections the sentry boxes images come back to the urban space as luminous transparencies that subvert their original scale and are photographed again.

The exhibition is composed by printed photographs, back - lights and projections.

The projections will take place at Galeria Leme only o 9th and 13th only from six to nine p.m. On the other days the prjections will take place at locations to be chosen by the artist and informed by the gallery.
